Type 1 & Type 2 Diabetes
Your blood sugar is high, but you are busy balancing your life (work, family and relationships). It’s easy for your diabetes to become the last thing in your mind.
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic condition characterized by the body’s inability to regulate blood sugar levels due to lack of insulin production and/or insulin resistance.
Instead of brushing off diabetes under the carpet, let’s find effective and uncomplicated diabetes regimen that works for you, so that you can gain control of diabetes and minimize risk of complications in the future.
For comprehensive care of your diabetes, contact Personal Endocrine at (949) 441-2164 or schedule an appointment HERE.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 38 million Americans have diabetes. That’s about 1 in every 10 people! And about 20% of people don’t know they have it.
If you are interested, you can see more statistics about DM at https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/php/data-research/index.html.
Weight Management (PDW program)
Obesity is a serious condition that needs to be treated, just like any other medical condition. It is intertwined with many chronic illnesses such as hypertension and heart disease, but especially with type 2 diabetes. Both type 2 diabetes and obesity are derived from insulin resistance.
Weight problems and diabetes didn’t happen overnight. It’s not simply because of the sweets you ate during holiday season, the cruise vacation that you went on last month, or your pregnancy from 5 years ago.
Having hard time losing weight is not all your fault! STOP blaming yourself! For many of us, obesity is multifactorial – genetics, stress, unhealthy habits, poor sleep, hormone changes, medications, etc. Therefore, it takes time, effort and perseverance to unwind the factors that are promoting insulin resistance.

Thyroid
Hypothyroidism can present with symptoms of fatigue, weight fluctuations, hair thinning, cold-intolerance and constipation. Hyperthyroidism symptoms are usually the opposite (insomnia, jitteriness, rapid heartbeat, heat-intolerance, weight loss).
Let’s investigate the root cause of your thyroid hormone abnormality and find the optimal treatment that works for you.

Osteoporosis
A gradual decline in bone density is part of normal aging. However, if your bones are frail, you may be at high risk of bone fractures, which will significantly affect your quality of life.
Osteoporosis is a “silent” bone disease that affects elderly men and women. According to the CDC, 19.6% of women and 4.4% of men aged 50 and over have osteoporosis of the femur neck or lumbar spine.
Let’s plan a balanced nutrition, exercise and medication regimen to improve your bone density.

Menopause / Male Hypogonadism
When the gonadal glands (ovaries and testes) stop producing sufficient sex hormones (estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), you start experiencing fatigue, hot flashes, weight changes, decreased libido, and sleep pattern disturbances.
Based on each individual’s medical history, safe hormonal and non-hormonal treatment options are available.

Parathyroid
“Parathyroid is not Thyroid.” The effects of these two hormones are completely unrelated.
Parathyroid hormones play the critical role of regulating calcium and phosphorus levels. If the parathyroid gland is not working properly, your calcium level will be abnormal (high or low) and cause complications.
Primary hyperparathyroidism causes hypercalcemia (high calcium), which may lead to kidney stones, osteoporosis, digestive problems, muscle pain, memory problems or kidney failure.
Hypoparathyroidism causes hypocalcemia (low calcium), which may manifest symptoms of muscle cramps, spasms, numbness, tingling, irregular heartbeat or seizures.
